LOVE and longing find yet another expression albeit bit urban and contemporary in Nostalgia Brand Chewing Gum,a play directed by Vivek Madan and produced by Q Theatre Productions (QTP). The four characters of the play Adil,Natasha,Bob and Kara have found an unlikely stage in Temperance Rooftop Theatre to tell their story on Saturday evening.
These four lovers catch up for dinner one evening but each one of them has a personal agenda. Natasha is basking in the glory of new-found love but Adil is still trying to piece together a broken heart. The pretty Kara is hoping for some attention from Adil. Then there is Bob whose love for his six pack trumps everything else. This play, originally written by Eric Gordon, features Freishia B,Kallirroi Tziafeta,Siddhant Karnick and Tariq Vasudeva.
Temperance is a wonderful venue and opening up the terrace to performances is a great idea. Nostalgia is the kind of play that lends itself to different settings. The hilarity is heightened when we take it to unique spaces, says Quasar Thakore Padamsee of QTP. He is planning to bring his other plays,Khatijabai of Karmali Terrace and So Many Socks both directed by him to this venue.
Unlike the plays tagline that says Love has a funny aftertaste, one hopes its new venue will ensure the audience has a good time that will stay with them.
