Second seeded Ravindra Kotiyan proved his mettle and kept his cool as he humbled top-seed Nishaad Shah twice on the same day to capture the youth boys’ as well as the junior boys’ singles titles in the JVPGC-All Mumbai 4-star ranking table tennis tournament at the Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana Club on Monday.
In fact, the story could have been a lot different, had Shah not relinquished his 3-1 lead, especially once he had got himself up to match-point in the fifth game. It was here that Kotiyan showed his immense resolve in fighting back to not only win the game but to then run away with the tie to eventually triumph 11-7,8-11,9-11,4-11,12-10,11-7,11-6 in the junior event.
