Crime Branch arrests three for robbery

The Crime Branch has arrested three persons from Kalwa,Thane,for robbing a hardware engineer at knifepoint last month.

The Crime Branch has arrested three persons from Kalwa,Thane,for robbing a hardware engineer at knifepoint last month.

The three — Sagar Karake (18),Sitaram Baviskar (18) and Sunil Pikerao (18) — had allegedly taken away a gold chain,a cellphone and Rs 2,000 in cash from the complainant. An officer attached to the Unit 7 of Crime Branch said. “The complainant is a hardware engineer who resides in Airoli and works in Andheri. The arrested had stopped him at Nahur railway station early on July 24 when he was going back home and forced him to hand over these valuables. They had threatened to stab him. The complaint was registered with Bhandup police.”

He said they had received information that the accused were residents of Kalwa. “Teams were sent to Kalwa and a trap laid in Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Nagar,where they reside. We have recovered the mobile phone they had robbed.” The accused have been handed over to Bhandup police.
