Cops seize pirated CDs,arrest two

A day after Tees Maar Khan hit the screens,police officers of the Social Service Branch and operatives from the Alliance Against Copyright Theft raided a CD manufacturing unit.

A day after Tees Maar Khan hit the screens,police officers of the Social Service Branch and operatives from the Alliance Against Copyright Theft raided a CD manufacturing unit in Govandi and seized pirated content and other items worth Rs 13 lakh. The police arrested two men—Radheshyam Yadav (35) and Akbar Ali (30)— working in the unit for allegedly manufacturing pirated CDs of Bollywood films. The duo has been booked under the Indian Copyright Act .

A police officer of the Social Service Branch said,“We along with AACT members raided the place on Saturday. We seized 16,103 pirated DVDs,1,06,100 inlay cards,95 DVD writers,one DVD player and a colour TV worth Rs 13 lakh in total.”

Prakash Nathan,vice president of UTV Motion Pictures and one of the members of AACT,said,“We’ve been working to ensure that pirated DVDs of Tees Maar Khan are not available in the market. We are working closely with the police to intercept attempts to copy or distribute pirated versions of the movie.” On Thursday, AACT operatives and police had conducted a raid in Chembur and seized goods worth Rs 4 lakh which included nearly 16,000 inlay cards of Tees Maar Khan and 4,000 DVDs of other recently-released movies. Police claimed the consignment had come from Rajasthan and further probe was on.
