The Mumbai police have drawn up a list of around 400 establishments in the city to be graded as per their security standards.
The plan to grade establishments from A to F based on security standards was announced by Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh Thursday.
We have identified around 100 hotels,100 malls and multiplexes as well as major schools and hospitals in Mumbai, which will be the first to be graded. More establishments can be later added to the list. Our teams will start visiting these establishments once the Ganeshotsav is over, Additional Commissioner of Police (protection and security) Madhukar Pandey said.
The security audit will be done against parameters such as CCTV cameras, metal detectors and background verification of all employees.
We will be considering whether a particular establishment has a regular budget for security, whether it holds mock drills in its premises and whether it has vulnerable spots where a stealth entry can be made. In cases of establishments like the National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange, police are also looking into whether the establishments have enough provisions to protect their data as well as whether the data is adequately backed up, Pandey said.
