Malad police investigating the murder of a 22-year-old man, found dead near D Mart supermarket,on Thursday detained three persons based on a voice recording found in the deceaseds phone.
According to police, the victim Pradeep Nandlal Yadavs body was found on Wednesday with injuries and a hole in his temple. There was a note in his pocket that said that in the event of his death, police should check his cell phone.
When we checked Yadavs mobile we found a voice recording in a mans voice saying that he had stolen an ATM card but since he did not have the pin number he searched for it in the cupboard of the ATM card-owner but did not find it, M Herpude,API,Malad police said. When we checked the data we found that the ATM card was used last by the victim as recorded by the CCTV camera installed at the ATM centre, Herpude said.
We have detained Rajesh and two other relatives. All the victims relatives said that the voice in the phone recording seems to be that of Yadav, Herpude added. Police officers are now probing whether the victim stole the ATM card that led him to commit suicide or did the killers make him record his voice on the phone and then shot him.
Herpude said that the hole in the temple was a gun shot as they have recovered a bullet from the temple and have also seized an empty cartridge from Yadavs wrist.
We are now finding out whether Yadav committed suicide or was murdered, Herpude said.
