Commuters on the Central Railway and Western Railway had a difficult day after two wheels of a coach derailed on the harbour line and a branch fell on the Over-Head Equipment (OHE) at Charni Road station,on Tuesday.
Two wheels of a coach of Bandra-CST local got derailed at the Reay Road station around 11.35 am disrupting the services for over two hours on the harbour line. No major injuries were reported. The incident led to closing of traffic in the up direction (towards CST). The up direction traffic was diverted from Kurla on the main line of the Central Railway. For the harbour line services from Andheri to CST,the CR started shuttle services from these stations till Wadala Road station. Around 20 services were cancelled due to the incident. The cause of the accident is under investigation. We started the relief work immediately and re-railment process started at 1.35 pm. The services resumed at 2.40 pm, said Vidyadhar Malegaonkar,chief spokesperson,CR.
In the evening,a branch fell on the Over-Head Equipment (OHE) at Charni Road (down slow direction) blocking the traffic. We diverted the traffic movement to avoid delays during the peak time, said Sharat Chandaryan,chief spokesperson WR.
