In the next few years,citizens may be able to cast their vote for elections to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and other municipal corporations using the Internet or simply through an SMS.

If the state election commission’s ambitious plans to increase voter turnout come through,voters across the state will be able to e-vote (vote through an electronic medium) for all future elections in Maharashtra.

Docu on Gorai dumping ground bags prize at Cancun summit

The spotlight has turned once again on the Gorai dumpsite project of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation when a two-minute Marathi documentary on the story of the successful closure of the dumpsite and promoting climate friendly policies received third prize in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) in Cancun in Mexico.

Sacked worker,others assault Powai hotel’s senior chef

A senior chef with the Renaissance Hotel in Powai was seriously injured on Thursday after a casual worker and his two associates allegedly assaulted him over a dispute. The complainant,Rajendra Prasad Singh, later registered a complaint with the Powai police.

The cops are still trying to trace the accused,Nihal Jadhav,and his associates.
