Constructions: HC stays service tax
The Bombay High Court,while admitting an Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industries petition,has granted an interim stay on the service tax levied on buildings under construction. “In our opinion,sale of flats is not a service; it is a simple transaction of goods. With service tax in force from July 1… if the value of the flat is Rs 1 crore in the agreement,the home buyer will have to shell out Rs 2.5 lakh as service tax,” said MCHI president Sunil Mantri.

60-m rly overbridgenear Panjarpol
The MMRDA is building a 60-m railway overbridge at Stanvack Nagar,one of the city’s longest,near Panjarpol. Part of the Anik-Panjarpol Link Road (APLR) project,it will be over the Stanvack Nagar railway tracks. The estimated construction cost is Rs 30 crore.
