Kalamboli orphanage case: Judgment expected today
TWO years after 19 minor girls were rescued from Kalyani Mahila Bal Seva Sanstha orphanage,Kalamboli,the sessions court judgment in the case is expected on Saturday.
The girls were allegedly abused physically and sexually by the orphanage owner and his associates.
Of the 19 girls,all aged between 14 and 18 years,at least four are deaf and mute.
Police said the orphanage founders,Ramchandra Karanjule,his wife Surekha and an administrator,Sonali Badte,were among the prime accused in the case.
Truck kills 40-year-old,driver held
A 40-year-old man was crushed by a truck in Bhandup on Thursday night near J B Advani Company premises,police said. The driver of the truck has been arrested.
Police said the accused,Chandrakant Mansingh Bhosle (53),was reversing on LBS Marg when the victim,who was entering the companys compound,came under the rear wheels.
The victims identity could not be established. Eyewitnesses said he was a ragpicker who lived on the pavement near the company. He appeared to have been drunk at the time of the incident, said Shrirang Nadgauda,senior inspector.
