ASG: Official inaction can’t legalise Adarsh

The 31-storey Adarsh Society cannot be termed legal merely because the regulatory authorities delayed taking action against it,said Additional Solicitor General Darius Khambata in a hearing in the Bombay High Court on Tuesday. “I am contending that there has not been inaction by the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority. But even assuming that the authority has indeed not taken action against the building for a year, does that make the construction legal? If this contention is accepted,it will set a bad precedent,” said Khambata. The case is slated for hearing on July 18.
