The Bachchan family,known to invite “only close friends and family” for all their functions,had a rather generous guest list for what we believe was a celebration to bring in mother hen Jaya Bachchan’s birthday on Thursday night at their bungalow,Jalsa. Jaya,who started work on director Revathy Sharma’s new film alongside new bride Ayesha Takia and Raveena Tandon,was back in time for the party later in the evening.

Guests started pouring in shortly thereafter,including Karan Johar,Piyush Panday,Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra,Dimple Kapadia,couturier Abu Jani,good friends Anupam,Kirron and Sikander Kher,Riteish Deshmukh and Ila Arun. And yes,Anil Ambani too. Filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia was seen walking in with a bouquet of roses. Ajitabh Bachchan came too.

Bummer We didn’t spot the Bachchan household fixture Amar Singh. Must be busy chalking out how to get Sanjay Dutt a ticket.
