Summer Soiree
Summer is well underway and fashion stores across the city are hosting spring/summer launches. The latest to do so was Melange in Altamount Road, which played host to whole crowd of well-heeled ladies about town on Tuesday. Sangita Sinh Kathiwada, the lady behind Melange, welcomed guests over high tea to view the store’s latest range of summery clothing by designers like Rajesh Pratap Singh,Sabina Singh,Myoho,Ranji Kelekar and Yuvraj Malhotra. Sales were brisk as guests happily sipped on mango milkshake and munched on the vegetarian hors d’oeuvres. “People have already picked up so many clothes,” Sangita said, who was herself togged out in a RPS creation. We saw Pravina Mecklai try out a Sabina creation. Though the maximum stir was created by Shilpa Shetty, who came for a short while with sister Shamita in tow,we also saw Preeti Jhangiani,Divya Palat,Sharmilla Khanna,Nisha Jamval and Rashmi Uday Singh.

Bummer Shilpa is very on-trend with her ‘jeggings’,but isn’t that puff sleeved shirt something we’ve seen before on Twinkle Khanna? If we recall, that was styled similarly with a big belt cinching the waist. A little more research,Shilpa, and you can avoid such faux pas.

Picture perfect
When Sushmita Sen deigns to grace an exhibition with her esteemed (albeit rather sloppily dressed) presence, you know it’s probably an exhibition worth taking a second look at. So,apparently, did the art cognoscenti including sculptors Arzan Khambatta and Keyur Patel and painters Amish Mehta,Prithvi Soni,Daxa Khandwala and Devyani Parikh who streamed into the Nehru Centre Art Gallery yesterday to view artist Gautam Patole’s charcoal paintings. Patole in a charcoal outfit (an artist truly wedded to his art) presented Sen with an impressive bronze sculpture. Sen remarked with a mysterious smile,“I know Gautam a lot more than he thinks I do.” Quite a cryptic statement, hey?

Bummer And no Miss Sen. A flight delay and fever do not excuse that diaphanous disaster of a pull-over.
