Even as Mumbai remained on red alert due to heavy rain, train operations on all four lines of Central Railway were heavily disrupted Monday, with delays ranging between 15 and 25 minutes, though no services were cancelled.

The downpour led to waterlogging between Kurla and Matunga, affecting one of the busiest stretches on the suburban network. Railway authorities said timely intervention prevented a complete halt of services.

“The trains are running on all four lines. There is waterlogging, but it didn’t disrupt our service,” said P. D. Patil, Public Relations Officer, Central Railway.

Commuters travelling on the Central line faced significant delays, particularly during peak hours, leading to crowding at several stations.

According to officials, engineering teams were deployed on site to pump out the accumulated water and ensure track safety. Disaster management teams were also kept on alert in anticipation of further showers, with maintenance staff stationed at vulnerable points to monitor conditions.
