Round II of Census 2011 will begin on February 9 in Mumbai. As many as 13,000 BMC officials and 12,000 state government and other officials will be deployed for the counting.
The questions will include information on personal details, including marital status, mother tongue, place of birth, work, education, caste and migration. Residents will be asked about the state that they belong, said Manisha Mhaiskar,Additional Municipal Commissioner.
We are trying to entrust the same blocks and areas to the enumerators of the previous phase. Around 60-70 per cent of the staff have already reported for duty, said Mhaiskar. We have been directed to ensure that exams and Census do not coincide and the education department will make certain of the same, said Mhaiskar. Teachers on Census duty may extend their classes in March if the need arises.
