BMC could follow in MMRDA’s footsteps

The 18-km-long Mithi,of which six km fall under MMRDA’s jurisdiction and the rest under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation,is the suburbs’ main natural water drain and accommodates untreated waste from 43 side drains.

The 18-km-long Mithi,of which six km fall under MMRDA’s jurisdiction and the rest under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC),is the suburbs’ main natural water drain and accommodates untreated waste from 43 side drains.

A BMC official in charge of the river said the civic body will look into MMRDA’s pilot project to understand what has been done to make a decision on whether it can be applied to the river under its jurisdiction as well. “We will see if the results look positive and the technology seems feasible,” he said.
