Two persons arrested for allegedly trying to create communal strife in Agripada and Dongri areas on April 2,Good Friday,have been granted bail by the metropolitan court.
Salim Sheikh and Imran Sheikh had been arrested for allegedly distributing anti-Christian pamphlets.
After their arrest,a delegation of Muslim groups had also visited the office of the Joint Commissioner of Police,law and order and crime branch to explain the pamphlets were not anti-religion.
After the two got bail,Advocate Mumbin Solkar who provided them legal advice said,The two were charged under section 295 (a) of the Indian Penal Code,related to hurting sentiments of certain religion.
Accordingly since the accused had distributed the pamphlets in Agripada and Dongri areas two cases came to be registered against them.
Since there was nothing else to recover from them except the pamphlets,they stood a chance of getting bail,which they did, he said.
The two youths are residents of Nagpada and had allegedly distributed the pamphlets on their own. The police are investigating further.
