Ahmedabad College trustee, guard held for ‘taking bribe’ to release ex-principal’s pension

A TRUSTEE and a security guard of an Ahmedabad-based college were booked for allegedly seeking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh in order to release the final payments of a former in-charge principal of the institute, the Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said  Wednesday.

The ACB booked Timir Vinu Amin, Trustee of the M M Patel College of Education in Ahmedabad, and security guard Muralimanohar Ramlalji Jandol, on the premises of the Pankaj Vidyalaya at Gulbai Tekra. A statement issued by the ACB said, “The complainant in this case retired as the in-charge principal from M M Patel College of Education. The accused person, Timir Amin, sought a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to release the amount of pension, general provident fund and leave encashment. Even after receiving Rs 2 lakh from the complainant in advance, Amin sought the remainder of Rs 3 lakh, and asked the complainant to hand over this amount to the second accused, Muralimanohar Ramlalji Jandol.”

The statement added, “The complainant then filed a complaint with the ACB.”

On Wednesday, an ACB team led by inspector R I Parmar set a trap. Jandol had a conversation with the complainant and on behalf of Amin, accepted Rs 3 lakh and was caught red-handed, the ACB said.
