The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is all set to elect its representatives on Sunday.
Of 99 wards,One candidate has already been elected unopposed. While the Sena-BJP combine is contesting 88 seats,Congress-NCP- ASPA alliance has fielded its candidates in all the seats.
For the first time,the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is contesting 46 seats in the AMC polls. The RDLF has fielded 71 candidates. The counting of votes will take place on April 12 and the results will be announced on the same day.
Around 7,00,722 voters in the city will decide the fate of 816 candidates in the fray. The civic administration has already arranged 850 electonic voting machines and sent them to 618 polling centres. It has also deployed 4000 polling staff and 5000 police personnel for smooth polling. Around 60 polling booths have been identified as sensitive and special security arrangements have been made to conduct free and fair voting in these booths.
