Aurangabad: another Sena-BJP tiff

It was the Shiv Sena’s turn to score a point over BJP here on Saturday when Independent Ayyub Khan was elected vice-president of the Cantonment Board on its support.

The Cantonment Board has seven members — two Sena,three BJP and two Independents. Former vice-president Kishore Kachwah had resigned recently,necessitating the election. At a general body meeting on Saturday,Cantonment president Brigadier GJ Singh put the election issue before the members. Independent Babbubhai and Sena corporator Anil Jaiswal supported Khan,the lone candidate.

BJPs’ Shubhangi Targe,Mayadevi Shaga and Vinod Swami,present in the council,neither supported nor opposed the election.

BJP leader Pravin Ghughe alleged the Sena ensured the election of the Independent. The BJP will submit a memorandum to cancel the election. BJP corporator Sanjay Kenekar said,“When Congress supported us to win the AMC standing committee chairman post,the Sena termed it anti-Hindutva. Now why did the Sena support an Independent?”

Sena district chief Ambadas Danve said. “We have not betrayed the BJP…”
