Around town : Two held,firearms ammunition seized

Two persons were arrested by Unit 11 of Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Thursday and 16 firearms and 25 rounds of live ammunition seized from them.

Two persons were arrested by Unit 11 of Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Thursday and 16 firearms and 25 rounds of live ammunition seized from them. The weapons were meant for a city-based gang,cops said.

HC rejects Tarun Shah’s plea

The Bombay HC has refused film financier Bharat Shah’s secretary Tarun Shah’s plea that his property,auctioned by a trial court during the time he was absconding in a MCOCA case for alleged links with the underworld be restored or else another flat be given to him in the same area. He had surrendered in 2004,and acquitted in 2010. The court cited a delay in the plea and asked him to move the relevant court.

Gangster booked for extortion

Gangster D K Rao was booked in an extortion case by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Thursday. Rao,now in judicial custody and lodged at Navi Mumbai’s Taloja Jail,is likely to be remanded in police custody on Saturday.

4 held for robbery

Four wanted in theft and robbery cases were nabbed by Unit 6 of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Friday. Police said the arrested had about 12 cases registered against them.
