The court directed the superintendent of Taloja Central Jail to hand over Anil’s custody to the officers of Dhamnod police station in MP. Special Judge D D Almale said that after investigation, the MP Police officers shall bring Anil back to Taloja jail.
On Friday, Goa Police officers had also sought to move a plea for Anil’s custody in a separate case. The plea is likely to be heard on April 5.
The court on Friday heard arguments by Anil’s lawyer and by the Mumbai Police, which opposed the bail plea stating that he is a habitual offender and may flee if granted bail.
The court on Saturday will decide on the bail plea of Anil’s cousin Nirmal Jaisinghani. Lawyer Manan Sanghai, representing Anil and Nirmal, said their co-accused, Anil’s daughter Aniksha Jaisinghani, has been granted bail and hence, they can also be considered on grounds of parity.
However, Special Public Prosecutor Ajay Misar told the court that bail granted to Aniksha cannot be a ground to release Anil on bail.
Anil’s lawyer said he is suffering from various ailments and if granted bail, he will not flee.
