Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) leader Prakash Ambedkar has “conditionally” accepted the invitation to join Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra saying it would be difficult for him to join the “Yatra without the long-awaited invitation to join both INDIA and MVA”.
“…I conditionally accept the invitation for your Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. It would be difficult for me to join your Yatra without the long-awaited invitation to join both INDIA and MVA. Without the invitation, it would lead to speculations of an alliance, which has not yet materialised… Hence, we stress that you invite VBA to INDIA and MVA as well,” said Ambedkar in his letter to Gandhi.
Ambedkar said that he would like to reiterate the fact that VBA has not yet been inducted into the INDIA alliance or the MVA “despite our repeated communication to the Indian National Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge”. “The irony is that your invitation says that ‘You are an important pillar of the INDIA alliance’,” it said.
Ambedkar said, “In these communal, casteist, and divisive times, it is very important that the Opposition to the present Modi-led government takes an inclusive approach, which is vital for collective strength and action, and most importantly, its sustainability to fight against the nefarious designs of BJP-RSS in the upcoming elections.”
The Yatra, which started from Manipur on January 14, will culminate in Mumbai in March.
