Ad agency joins hands to spread harmony

The Mumbai police and an advertising agency have launched a poster campaign to spread the message of communal harmony through police stations. Over the past week,1,000 posters bearing symbols of various religions have been printed and despatched to police stations, with another 1,000 now commissioned and set to be displayed in police stations elsewhere in the state.

Maharashtra DGP D Sivanandhan says,“The campaign is much needed and a very timely balm we hope will work towards creating peace among religious communities.”

CD Ramachandran, owner of advertising agency Imageads and Communications, says the idea behind the campaign is to “send a message to society, especially the younger generation, that ultimately every religion leads to the same God”. Ramachandran first reached out to Mumbai Police with the idea because he felt “in any communal dispute,it is police that controls people” and this would therefore be an apt starting point for the campaign.

The next 1,000 posters will bear the tricolor in the background,he added.

Ramachandran hopes the campaign can be extended to all places of public congregation such as mosques and temples, banks and schools etc. As Imageads and Communications has a large client base including banks,he has requested his clients to put up posters in their branches. “There are 60,000 bank branches all over India,so the campaign could reach a lot of people….”
