Acid attack on real estate agent: 2 held

“The two were part of the abduction and we are on the lookout for four others. The duo confessed that they were involved in the case,” said senior inspector Suresh Shinde of Vanrai police.

Police sources said a builder is also wanted in the case. The victim and a legal dispute with the builder,on behalf of a relative.

The accused have been booked for kidnapping,attempt to murder and robbery,after Verma told police his mobile phone was also taken away by the accused. Officers probing the case said the accused wanted to teach Verma a lesson.

“They wanted to send a strong message after beating and torturing him. We have booked them for the offence and are confident of nabbing the others. The car,which the accused had used to kidnap Verma has still not been recovered. We are on looking for the car as it will be evidence in the case,” said an officer.

The police revealed that on the day of the incident,Verma had received a call from an unknown caller enquiring about a land deal and had gone to meet him near Goregaon Railway Station. Four men,one of them brandishing a gun,accosted him and forced him into a car.

In his statement to police,Verma said he was taken to an apartment in Mira Road where he was gagged and blindfolded,before being assaulted with iron rods. The men allegedly poured acid into his eyes.

The police were informed of the incident after Verma was found unconscious in the forest by a dairy farmer.
