“Phool Bagan”,Anupamaa Dayal’s collection dwelt on motifs of butterflies and flowers in bloom — from magnolias and camelias to peonies and roses.

In keeping with her signature style,she went easy on sequins and let the floral prints and bright colours do the screaming. Oozing femininity,this range scored in wearability and its retro feel. What we really loved were the black-and-white polka-dotted blouses offsetting the brightly hued saris. A throwback to the time when romances were set against colour.

The lights dimmed. Two screens showed a video of the destruction of the earth and the dawn of a new beginning. The rainbow,said an announcement,was the inspiration for designer Charu Parashar’s collection,“Hope and Joy”. The collection,with clothes in rainbow colours,was way too literal. Instead of experimenting with colour,Parashar created rainbows everywhere. The straw hats,bandanas and colourful bangles only added to the chaos.

Sashaying down the runway is now second nature to Kangana Ranaut. Clad in a white-and-gold creation,the Bollywood actor had a confident air about her as she walked for designer Shantanu Goenka. The collection,however,left a lot to be desired. Taking its inspiration from the French queen,Mary Antoinette,the line was opulent all the way. The rich prints,ruffles or the heavily embroidered leggings,it was Over The Top and looked straight out of a Victorian themed wedding. Not for an Indian Summer.
