A 70-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Malwani on Monday after he was frustrated by prolonged illness and inability to meet his children after separation from wife.

A 70-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Malwani on Monday after he was frustrated by prolonged illness and inability to meet his children after separation from wife.

According to the police,Khalid Khan was found hanging from the bamboo stilts on Monday morning. On searching his house,the police found a three-page suicide note addressed to his wife Nilofer. Khan was suffering from cancer for 15 years and was being treated at the Tata Hospital,according to the note. Khan,who had separated from his wife,mentioned in the suicide note that Nilofer suspected him of committing adultery and left the house along with their three children — Shahid,Humaida and Rahila.

In the letter,Khan said he wanted to meet his children but Nilofer did not allow him to do so. “We have informed Khan’s wife and will record her statement and contact Tata Hospital to find out whether Khan had cancer,” said A A Shaikh,senior inspector,Malwani police station.
