Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan is planning to set a new trend in the Mantralaya by reaching out to the staff and becoming more accessible to the public as well.

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan is planning to set a new trend in the Mantralaya by reaching out to the staff and becoming more accessible to the public as well.

To begin with,Chavan mingled with the staff working in his office on New Year’s Day and extended greetings.

He told them that there were challenges as well as opportunities of developing the state and that he required their cooperation to improve governance.

He also met all secretaries and said that since he had taken charge of the state in a peculiar situation,expectations of people were very high. He also spoke to staff members lower in the heirarchy,with whom a distance is usually maintained by CMs.

Officials said that Chavan also wanted to set a new trend of meeting members of the public twice a week in the Mantralaya and twice a week at his official residence,Varsha,in Malabar Hill. They said that the days of the week and the timing of interaction would be finalized soon.
