2 more MLAs resign in support of Maratha reservation

With the Maratha reservation protest escalating in the state, two more MLAs announced that they were resigning from their posts to express solidarity with Maratha protesters. In the last few days, a spate of Maratha MLAs and MPs have announced their intent to resign from their positions.

On Tuesday Sena MLA Ramesh Bornare who represents Vaijapur in Sambhaji Nagar and Congress MLA Ramesh Varpudkar who represents Pathri in Parbhani district announced his resignation. The three, however, are yet to submit resignations to the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker.

Earlier Sena MP from Hingoli Hemant Patil, Sena MP from Nashik Hemant Godse and BJP MLA Laxman Pawar representing Gevrai in Beed announced that they were resigning.

After resigning, MP Patil, on Tuesday, also sat on a hunger strike for a day in Delhi in support of Maratha reservation. “I will be fasting for a day, and observing silence in support of the reservation,” a note issued by Patil said.
