2 cops die in e-way accident

Two constables attached to the Thane Police Motor Transport (MT) section were killed after their police van met with an accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Sharad Chavan and Dashrath More. According to the Thane Police control room,the incident occurred around 1.45 pm when the tyre of their van burst and hit a divider,after which the vehicle plunged 35-feet into a rivulet. Assistant sub-inspector R S Koli and constable Sachin Chavan suffered injuries and were taken to a hospital in Nigdi. The four were returning after escorting an accused to Kolhapur jail,the police said.
