Zero discharge: Dyeing units form panel

The Federation of Dyeing Factories’ Associations constituted an Independent Monitoring Committee headed by S P Karkara,Former Commissioner,Ludhiana Municipal Corporation to enhance the accountability of the units to achieve pollution control standards prescribed by Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) on continuous basis. The monitoring committee will be at the liberty to visit any of the units at any time to assess the performance physically,draw samples of the treated effluent and get them them tested from any laboratory of their choice.

All the members of the federation will submit no-objection letters to the federation for the surprise visit of the monitoring committee to their units and drawl of samples for independent testing and reporting of cases of willful violation to the PPCB. The monitoring committee,in case of willful violation of prescribed norms,can directly to the PPCB and the federation. The entire cost of the Independent Monitoring Committee will be borne by the federation. The monitoring committee will have other members as RL Mahajan,Former Engineer-in-Chief,Punjab State Electricity Board,Ludhiana and Dr BD Kansal,Former Professor,Soil Department,PAU.
