M S Jaggi failed to provide data to state information panel regarding RTI query.
The State Information Commission (SIC) of Punjab has issued bailable warrants for MC Commissioner M S Jaggi, who failed to furnish information to the Commission regarding an RTI query. The order was issued on April 26 by state information commissioners Bidhi Chand Thakur,Jaspal Kaur and R I Singh.
The Commissioner has to appear before the bench on July 2,2012,with the relevant records of the Municipal Corporation (MC) regarding civic body sweepers.
It needs to be mentioned that the SIC had sought details from the MC regarding the attendance record of sweepers who work in various parks and localities, following a complaint by H L Bhandari,a resident of Tagore Nagar A.
Bhandari, however, had sought details from the Tagore Nagar A Welfare society, asking for information on the sweepers who were working in the area and from where they were getting their salaries.
However, the Society had replied that the sweepers were not their employees. So the Commission had directly sought the details from the MC Commissioner
However, nobody provided any information and the Commissioner,on his part, failed to respond to the notices sent by the Commission as well.
Taking strict note of this, the Commission passed these orders. The Commission had sought details of the sweepers and their salary payment schedule from January to December 2010.
Apart from this, the State Information Commission has also directed Tagore Nagar A Welfare Society to produce the utilisation certificates of the funds received from the Local Bodies Department between January 1 and December 31,2010.
