Textile workers continue strike

The strike by nearly 2,500 textile workers of more than 155 factories continued on Monday with the workers holding a protest at the DC Office.

The strike by nearly 2,500 textile workers of more than 155 factories continued on Monday with the workers holding a protest at the DC Office.

The workers are demanding better wages in view of rising prices and inflation,implementation of labour laws like identity cards,maintenance of muster-roll,attendance card,salary slips,ESI cards,PF,bonus,weekly holidays,improvement of conditions on factory floor and appropriate security measures to prevent accidents in factories.

Textile Mazdoor Union leaders Rajwinder and Lakhwinder Singh alleged that the Punjab government and Ludhiana have turned a blind eye towards the injustice being done to the workers.

The workers also demanded withdrawal of alleged false police cases against the leaders,Rajwinder and Lakhwinder,and to take stern action against the owners and labour officials for not implementing labour laws.
