Tewari gives cheques worth Rs 40 lakh from MPLAD fund

Manish Tewari,Ludhiana MP and the National Spokesperson of the Congress,distributed cheques worth Rs 40 lakh from his local area development fund here today.

The cheques were distributed among various educational institutions and other social organisations.

Speaking on the occasion Tewari said that he tried to ensure that MPLAD funds were properly and equitably distributed among deserving organisations.

He said his prime focus has been educational institutions.

He disclosed that more than half of the amount had been given to various educational institutions.

Besides,the MP said,considerable amount has been provided to the organisations working for the welfare of the weaker and downtrodden sections of the society.

He said that a number of dharamshalas belonging to the Scheduled Caste community have also been given grants from his MPLAD fund.

Tewari will be distributing cheques to the tune of Rs 1.5 crore for various rural development works tomorrow at Karan Palace,Mullanpur. Grants are given based upon the demands made by various sections of the community.

The Congress spokesman also took a dig at the ruling Akali-BJP alliance.

He said that the countdown for the government had started and it was just a matter of four months when the Akali-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance will vanish.

He ridiculed the development claims of the government saying they were barely managing to survive on the grants provided by the central government.

He added that they were being so ungrateful that instead of acknowledging it they have been accusing the centre of discrimination.
