Police equestrian meet from March 22
CHANDIGARH:
Haryana Police will be organising the 27th All India Police Equestrian Championship and Mounted Police Duty Meet from March 22 to March 28 at Madhuban. More than 250 participants will take part in the meet which will include events like show jumping,dressage and tent pegging. Bollywood actress Karishma Kapoor will inaugurate the meet on March 22.

Angad Cheema tees off into lead
CHANDIGARH:
Playing the only sub-par round of the day,Angad Cheema from Chandigarh raced ahead of the pack after the first round of the Rambagh Golf Club Open Amateur being played at the par-70 Rambagh Golf Club. Angad carded a round of four-under 66 to open up a four stroke lead over the rest of the field. As many as seven players are tied for the second spot after shooting a level-par round. This includes Jaipur’s Amanjyot Singh,who is looking to defend his title. Some other names tied for second include 15-year-old Ashbeer Saini,Karan Taunk and L Selvadurai. Bangalore’s Abhishek Jha,the number one player on the Order of Merit list had a disappointing outing as he could only manage a round of five-over 75. Starting from the 10th tee,Angad finished in a blaze of glory,making birdies on four of his last five holes,which included the par-5 8th and 9th hole.

Cricket tourney from March 25
CHANDIGARH:
Saupin’s Cricket Academy will organise the First Under-13 Saupin’s Gold Cup Cricket Tournament from March 25. Eight team will take part in the the league-cum-knock-out basis 5. Players born on or after January 1,1997 will be eligible to take part in the tournament.

Punjab Sports Association to merge with National Federation for the Blind
LUDHIANA:
To provide better facilities to the blind,Punjab Sports Association (PSA) has merged with National Federation for the Blind to intensify their fight for the blind against the government. The office bearer of the Association will run the affairs of the Sports Wing of the federation. According to Prof. Rajesh Mohan,general secretary,State Unit of Federation,Gurpreet Singh will be chairman of the wing while Balwinder Singh and Vivek Monga have also been included. Parminder Phullanwal will be the media advisor.” They will organize a protest march from Ludhiana to Chandigarh from April 11 to 15. Haryana government already pass this type of bill and 164 crore rupees are sanctioned to establish 26 centres.
