Singer Sartaj enthrals audience

Punjabi singer Satinder Sartaaj kept the city audience glued to their seats for over three hours when he performed at Guru Nanak Bhawan on Saturday evening.

Punjabi singer Satinder Sartaaj kept the city audience glued to their seats for over three hours when he performed at Guru Nanak Bhawan on Saturday evening. The programme had been organised by Iqbal Mahal,a Canadian NRI,in association with a number of cultural organisations,namely Alive Artistes Group,Punjabi Sabhyachar Academy,Prof Mohan Singh Memorial Foundation,Sobha Singh Memorial Foundation and Sabhyacharak Satth Punjab.

Singing the songs penned by himself,Sartaaj kept the Ludhianvis spellbound. His songs showcased life of students,farmers,agriculture,honesty,religion,Sufism and Ghazals. Some of songs which he sang included Pani Panjaan Dariyawan Wala Nehri Ho Gaya,Motiya Chameli,Mera Pind,Nikki Jehi Kuri and Dastar.

The singer was presented Giani Bhagat Singh Award by Ranjodh Singh,son of Giani Bhagat Singh and President of Ramgarhia Institutions. Besides,Iqbal Mahal was honoured with Bhai Kanhaiya Ji Award by Sobha Singh Memorial Foundation and North America’s youngest broadcaster Natasha Mahal was given Dhee Punjabi Di award by Sabhyacharak Satth Punjab.

Jagdev Singh Jassowal,who is a leading cultural activist was the chief guest while PAU Vice Chancellor Dr Manjit Singh Kang along with DC Vikas Garg and SSP Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill,was the guest of honour.
