Commercial dairy farming is a rapidly growing profession these days. Proper planning,better skill and scientific know-how are the main tools of commercial Dairy farming.
In this way,production is touching new highs and negative economic impacts of unorganised dairy farming are reducing. These views were expressed by Dr OS Parmar Dean,Dairy Science College of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.
He was disseminating this information while discussing the programme schedule of national seminar on “Commercial dairy farming – quality assurance and profitability”.
He said that quality control was necessary to get good profit so quality in assurance and economics of profit is the right combination in commercial dairy farming.
He said that the Punjab state is the lleading state in the country where commercial dairy farming is becoming more and more viable and the farmers are finding it a more lucrative enterprise as compared to crop farming.
Dr. Parmar told that the Indian Dairy Association IDA (North Zone) will be holding a National Seminar on Commercial Dairy Farming-Quality Assurance and Profitability in collaboration with the College of Dairy Science and Technology and Punjab Dairy Development Board at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences,Ludhiana on November 9,2009.
GS Sandhu,IAS,Financial Commissioner,Animal Husbandry Dairying and Fisheries will be the chief guest of the meet and Dr VK Taneja,Vice-Chancellor,GADVASU,Ludhiana,will preside over the function. Dr NR Bhasin,IAS (Retired) and Chairman of the National Body of Indian Dairy Association will also participate in the deliberations.
