PSEB engineers’ body opposes recruitment of staff on contract

Members of the Punjab State Electricity Board Engineer Association sported black badges on Tuesday to protest against the decision of the state government to recruit staff on contractual basis.

“The needs of the power department are different when compared to other sectors. The decision of the state government to conduct all future recruitment on the basis of contract is unjustified. Moreover,the state government has taken no decision to revive the financial health of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited and Punjab State Power Transmission Limited,” said Regional Secretary (Ludhiana) Sukhbir Singh.

According to the deputation,the members will intensify their stir if the state government does not agree to their demands. They also plan meet local leaders,MLAs and other public representatives and hold a march May 20 in this connection.
