Preparations for I-Day function are in full swing

Garg directed the officers to make fool-proof arrangements even as he assigned duties to the concerned officers at the meeeting.

He said that a colourful march-past would be organised in which contingents of Punjab Police,Traffic Police,Home Gaurds,NCC,Ex-Servicemen and Girl Guide would take part. He said that a colourful cultural programme and mass PT show would also be conducted by the students of different schools.

The DC said that for selection of cultural items,a committee has been constituted under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissionier (ADC) Kuldip Singh with Amrjit Kaur,DEO (Secondary),Subhash Gupta,DPRO,and Mahinder Singh,DDPO being its other members.

He said that rehearsal of cultural programme would be conducted from August 7 to 13 at Government College for Boys and final and full-dress rehearsal would be held on August 13. He directed the District Mandi Officer to arrange drinking water from August 7 up to 15 at the venue.

He also directed the officers of the MC to clear the grounds of the college and surrounding areas and repair all roads leading up to the college. He said that different enclosure would be set up for VIPs,officers,freedom fighters,mediapersons,teachers and students. He said that sewing machines to widows and needy women and try-cycles to the handicapped would be presented on this occasion.

ADC (Development) Davinder Singh,Prem Chand SDM Ludhiana West,Manpreet Singh Chhatwal SDM Ludhiana East,B.K. Gupta Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation,and Mahinder Singh DDPO,Gurdial Singh DSP,A.K. Sharma,Deputy Director Small Savings,and Amarjit Kaur DEO (Secondary) were also present in the meeting.
