Power problems plague city

Confirming the fault,K M Sharma,Chief Engineer Punjab State Power Corporation Limited(PSPCL) said,“Our teams are on the job to repair the line but till then,the load shedding has to be done in all the 10 sub-stations so as to keep the system running.” Because of the fault,power cuts were being imposed in many areas after every 30 minutes and even during power supply,voltage fluctuation and low voltage problems were being reported from many areas. A fault in Ropar thermal plant further aggravated the problem because of which the PSPCL staff was not able to draw power.

However,apart from the power cuts,the poor response of the PSPCL staff to attend complaints further agitated residents. Manav Inder Gurum,a resident of Rajguru Nagar said,“No one turned up at my place for a long time after I complained.”

I told the Chief Engineer K M Sharma at about noon and even after telling all details,. Last night low voltage problem was at my house,I got the complaint registered with the staff but to my surprise no employee turned up till 2 pm today morning. This shows the callousness on the part of the PSPCL. Even after unbundling,no one is accountable to masses.”
