The election to the 15-member council of Punjab Agricultural University Teachers’ Association (PAUTA) was held on Tuesday.
For the fifth consecutive time, H S Kingra group defeated Mukesh Siag group by 106 votes. From Kingra group, this time K S Sangha contested for the president’s post opposite Mukesh Siag.
Returning officer Sukhpal Singh told Newsline, “A total of 705 votes were polled out of 766 voters. Siag group got 294 votes while 400 votes were polled in favour of K S Sangha. This is by far the highest victory margin. In the last polls, Kingra defeated Siag by 21 votes only.”
Reacting to results, Kingra said, “Our group has won for fifth time and we promise that all promises made to faculty will be fulfilled.”
Siag said, “We humbly accept the verdict.”
