A part of a two-storey building collapsed in Islamganj area on Saturday evening after heavy rain,but luckily no one was injured.
As per Bhola Ram,owner,the building is almost 60 years old. He said despite his request to the Municipal Corporation to demolish the building,no one paid heed to his pleas.
The building had three shops on the ground floor and rooms on the first floor. I already knew that the building is a threat to people living near by and passers-by. Thats why I wanted the MC to demolish it, he added.
However,Monika Anand,assistant town planner,zone B,said: I was not aware of any such incident. Building branch engineers will do site inspection on Monday after which required action will be taken.
