Celebrated on the second Sunday of May,many rubbish Mother’s Day as a westernised concept where children meet their mothers once a year. But many still dedicate this day to their mothers as they plan to do something special for the special person in their lives. A few have plans cook for their moms while a few others are busy making cards. To give it a commercial touch, stores are encashing by offering discounts on bakeries, jewellary and et al.

Raghav Chaudhary,a 21-year-old engineering student will satiate gastronomical desires of his mother this Sunday. Raghav says,“I will be making her favourite grilled sandwiches and chocolate shake. For the last 21 years, she has been cooking for me. I will suprise her this time.”

His sister Ridham, however,is busy making a collage of her mum’s pictures which she will gift her tomorrow.

Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tiwari has some plan too. “Mother’s Day was never heard of in my childhood and college days. I am glad that such days are celebrated once a year. Although my mom lives in Lucknow,I am happy she is staying with me these days. I hardly get enough time out of my busy schedule. So I plan to take her out today evening itself. She is the happiest when she is in a temple,so we will go there together.”

The officer, however, did not hitch even for a second, when he said,“We often take our mothers for granted. We at times yell at her but she is always the same. There is no substitute for mother’s love.”

M S Jaggi,Joint Commissioner,Municipal Corporation,is not lucky as his parents are in Patiala. “My kids were making some plan for their mother but they are holding their cards close to their hearts.”

Ashim Nagpal, owner of Tanishq store, got emotional when when asked about his plan for the day.”Every day I entertain others’ moms. For me,everyday is a Mother’s Day. The values she taught me have stood in good stead. The concept is more popular day in the West where kids have no time for their parents.”
