SSC opens one-time ‘final’ correction window for JE 2025 city preference amid rollout of new self-slotting system

The shift comes ahead of a high-volume recruitment year, with 5,308 vacancies each for JE and SI posts. With lakhs of candidates in the pool, the SSC’s move reflects a longer-term effort to build a more digital and candidate-friendly examination system.

In a move aimed at ensuring fairness and flexibility, the SSC has also rescheduled the examination dates for about 1,100 candidates who sought relief due to clashes of dates with other competitive exams or for other valid reasons. In a move aimed at ensuring fairness and flexibility, the SSC has also rescheduled the examination dates for about 1,100 candidates who sought relief due to clashes of dates with other competitive exams or for other valid reasons (Express Photo by Ganesh Shirsekar/ representative)

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has issued a fresh notice giving a final opportunity to Junior Engineer (JE) Examination 2025 applicants who did not opt for an exam city during the earlier self-slotting window. The Commission has stated that these candidates can now submit their preferred exam city through the feedback module available on their candidate login until 11 am on November 28, 2025.

According to the SSC, exam city allocation during this extended window will be made strictly on a best-effort basis. Candidates who do not use this last chance will not be allotted a centre for JE Paper 1 and their admit cards will not be issued. Meanwhile, those who had already completed the self-slotting process between November 10 and 13 will have their city-live status activated on November 25, 2025.

The self-slotting windows were held from November 10 to 13 for JE and November 17 to 21 for SI. Once choices were locked, they could not be edited. For those who missed the deadlines, the Commission reserved the right to automatically assign cities—making this newly announced window a rare exception aimed at ensuring fairness during a particularly busy recruitment cycle.
