No more pomp while filing poll nominations

To end the pomp of candidates while filing nominations,Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tiwari,on Monday,announced that no more than five persons including the candidate will be allowed to file nomination papers in the office of the Returning Officer.

To end the pomp of candidates while filing nominations,Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tiwari,on Monday,announced that no more than five persons including the candidate will be allowed to file nomination papers in the office of the Returning Officer. In addition,no more than three vehicles will be allowed inside the campus where the nomination papers are to be filed. “If the candidate wants to go take out a rally or procession before filing nomination papers,the entire expenditure of the rally will be added to his/her account,” he clarified.

Violation of code of conduct has been seen while filing nomination papers and hoards of vehicles are seen going inside the campus apart from a huge rush in the office of RO.

The DC,however,maintained that it will not happen this time.

The DC also gave a detailed copy of rates of various items used in election campaign and gave a copy to the political parties. He asked them to give their objections if any within two days.

As per the list,the EC has fixed expenditures of pandals,lunch or dinner arranged by candidates for rallies,light system sound system and chairs.

The candidates were reminded again that expenditure should not exceed Rs 16 lakh and a close check of the expenses will be done by the monitoring committees.
