In an industry where following in the footsteps of parents is the norm,Rahil Tandon is quite at ease breaking away from traditions. The 23-year-old son of fashion designer Reynu Tandon,who stars in the hour-and-half long film telly film Like I Love You on MTV,says he was never quite in to designing. “I respect my mother’s passion for design but it’s not my thing. I am totally passionate about acting,” said Tandon. Instead,he brushed up his acting skills at Subhash Ghai’s Whistling Woods school with a two-year diploma course and also starred in a Bollywood musical Love Story produced by Sanjay Roy.

Produced under Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies production,the film,directed by Somnath Sen,who had earlier directed Leela,also has South Indian actress Suma Bhattacharya. “I sent a couple of pictures along with two tapes and was surprised to find myself shortlisted among 600 people. After a few auditions,the shoot started immediately,” says Tandon,who’s all set to play the character of a nice,easy going chap in the film,who finds his soulmate in London. “The next logical step is of course Bollywood,” said Tandon.
