Loud DJs a big nuisance

The marriage season is on and late night marriage parties with their loud DJs are adding to the woes of residents.

The marriage season is on and late night marriage parties with their loud DJs are adding to the woes of residents, who feel harassed and are left with no option but to listen to the unwanted music.

Sheena,a resident of Maya Nagar, said,“There should be some parameters for the DJs. Their high pitch adds to the woes of the sick, the elderly and of course students preparing for their exams. The district administration should curb this practice and act sternly.”

These days, the worst affected are the students, whose exams are approaching. Abhinav Kaushal,a class X student, said,“This Sunday, there were four functions in our colony and all were playing high-pitched music. I felt so irritated and also made a request to one of them to turn it down, but they hardly paid heed. No PCR team asked them to turn down the music, which kept on till 11 pm.”

Chakshu Malhotra said,“Our neighbours had a function and played the music so high that I could neither sleep nor study before my mathematics exam.”

Sick people also complain of the same problem. SR Kaler,Additional Deputy commissioner (General),Ludhiana said,“Recently in a meeting with representatives of Police district Khanna,Jagraon and Ludhiana I have told them to make their PCR teams more active for controlling this menace. The PCR teams should be mobilised to slow down loud music after 10 pm.”

But as exams approach, students want restrictions imposed on loud music even during the day time.
