A leopard,which was spotted in an under construction house in Sangowal village on Friday morning,injured two persons before being rescued by a team from the Chhatbir Zoo. The injured have been identified as Parmod Kumar,a labourer working in the under construction building and wildlife guard Narinder Singh. Parmod had gone to the upper floor of the farm house building around 10 am when he attacked by the leopard. During the attack,he ran another room from where he was rescued by others workers at the building, said Amandeep Singh,the owner of the building. He has sustained deep wounds on his face and arm, said Senior Medical Officer Dr Karanvir Singh of Ludhiana Civil Hospital. Wildlife guard Narinder Singh,who came to rescue the leapord,was also attacked. Narinder was on the top floor of the building,along with other employees after they had blocked the way to terrace with a temporary wooden gate barricading the leopard. However,around 4 pm,the leopard broke the gate and reached the top floor. As Narinder tried to capture him,he was hurt. Leopards have been spotted five times in the last four months in urban areas of Punjab. While leopards in Hoshairpur,Zirakpur,Sangrur and Garshankar were captured,in Kadian and Mattewara villages of Ludhiana the animal is yet to be found.
