Janakpuri shopkeepers stage dharna

Janakpuri,Ganesh Nagar Market Association today staged a dharna against the area councillor and senior deputy mayor,Parveen Bansal for poor sanitation in the area.They rued the area got flooded even after light rainfall and yesterday’s rainfall had posed even more problems for the area residents and shopkeepers.

The Congress leader,Vijay Gaba who had also contested election against Bansal was also among the protesters. The shopkeepers alleged that a storm sewer project was planned about three years back,but because of some technical flaws it was stopped on instructions of High Court.

However till date,no new design has been planned and hence the residents and shopkeepers were suffering because of sewer water overflow. The dharna on Janakpuri road also resulted in traffic disruption for the commuters,the protesters said.
