The Departments of Urology and Obstetrics and Gynaecology,DMCH,organised an awareness walk on the theme of “ Live Urine Leakage Free Life” under the leadership of Organizing Secretary Dr Baldev Singh Aulakh ,Professor of Urology and Head,Transplant Unit. The aim was to highlight that 25% of women suffer from leakage of urine incontinence at one time during their lifetime but don’t ask for treatment because of social stigma, socioeconomic factor and more so,not aware of the fact that this problem needs treatment and is curable.

Dr Aulakh said that incontinence (any involuntary loss of urine) can be a problem for women and men of all ages. The problem cuts across generations and genders. Incontinence affects athletes as well as those less active, mothers, and women who’ve never given birth, the younger and the older woman and man. For postmenopausal women, one study reports 1 out of 5 with incontinence, although it may be even higher because incontinence is a secret problem. It isn’t something that’s talked about.
